The background of this painting was created by the pouring of watercolor paints onto its surface.  The details were then put into the work by a brush. It is a mixed media painting in that acrylic was added to create texture. This gives it a pleasing contrast to the transparency of the watercolors. The great English painter J.W. Turner used this method in many of his paintings.

If you have traveled through the Alabama Region of what is known as the Tennessee Valley, you have seen many vistas like this one. The area is a much kept secret to the rest of the world. Rich with mountains, hills, lakes and valleys, each season beckons nature lovers. This particular painting is my impression of Big Will's Valley in Fort Payne, Al. --Ann Hamilton
